Geomagic Studio, which enables users to create 3D models and CAD surfaces from point-cloud data, has received Autodesk certification for use with Inventor 2009 and 2010.

Point-cloud data has become a fundamental data type that is growing in importance for product design, reverse engineering and rapid prototyping as users want to bring physical objects such as clay models or existing parts into the digital realm.

“Manufacturers can look forward to a seamless connection between Geomagic Studio and Autodesk Inventor to design and build better products in less time,” said Andrew Anagnost, vice president of design, engineering and simulation products for the Autodesk manufacturing industry group.

Geomagic Studio 11 is available in both 32- and 64-bit.
